Yesterday concluded the Blue Design Summit, an initiative supported by the Genova Industrie Navali S.p.A. group as a partner, helping to foster discussion on key issues for the future of the maritime economy.
The final day featured a panel discussion entitled "The Journey: New Ways of Cruising and Yachting," moderated by Giangiacomo Zino, with the participation of Mario Biferali, Davide La Manna, Andrea Teja, and Lorenzo Mortola.
The discussion explored some of the most relevant topics for the evolution of the cruise and yachting sector: sustainability, technological innovation, the transformation of the travel experience, and new ways of experiencing the sea.
Particular attention was paid to the growth of the river cruise segment, which is redefining design requirements through a new concept of travel: more exploratory, slow, and immersive. It also emerged how the concept of luxury is increasingly influencing naval design, shifting the focus toward scalable models with high experiential value.
Among the most innovative ideas was the concept of "nacht": a new vision of refitting and converting commercial vessels into yachts, capable of combining sustainability, functionality, and aesthetics.
Great attention was also paid to the role of AI, IoT, and augmented reality in industrial and design processes, with the presentation of a tool developed to drastically reduce response times to shipowners' projects through the integration of artificial intelligence, data, and predictive analytics.
Finally, the presentation of the video "Sustainable Beauty" was particularly significant, offering a concrete reflection on the relationship between innovation, design excellence, and responsibility towards the future.
