Founded in Genoa in 2008, the Genova Industrie Navali group unites two of the city's historic shipyards: Mariotti - specialised in the construction of ultra-luxury cruise ships, and San Giorgio del Porto - recognised worldwide as a point of reference for the repair, maintenance and conversion of all types of ship.
Over the years, the GIN group has expanded, with the acquisition of Chantier Naval de Marseille - a modern and efficient shipyard in the Port of Marseille (France) with the largest dry dock in the Mediterranean, and the establishment, together with the company Fratelli Neri, of Piombino Industrie Marittime - a multi-purpose shipyard with high safety standards in the Port of Piombino (Province of Livorno).
The business lines of the Genova Industrie Navali group are new build, design and engineering, ship repair, ship conversion and ship recycling operations, ship outfitting, the design, production and installation of electrical systems and all painting and surface treatment operations.
Genova Industrie Navali is a one-stop shop with extensive experience in the different areas of the shipbuilding industry, always able to offer the best technical solutions and full project management, whether designing a new ship or restructuring an existing one, fitting one out or completely demolishing one in accordance with the highest environmental standards; our companies are used to working together, exchanging ideas and coordinating with each other to ensure an impeccable service at all times, while fully respecting deadlines and safety standards.
Drawing on the experience of its historic companies, and through continued investment in research, innovation, development and the establishment of new infrastructure, GIN offers solutions at the forefront of the global ship repair and shipbuilding market. With continuous care for the environment and worker safety, Genova Industrie Navali follows the strictest quality standards set by European and international regulations and is always able to offer sustainable, effective and responsible solutions.
The shipbuilding industry in Italy, with approximately 27,000 companies, is worth around 4.5 billion euros of investment and is leader in Europe for its contribution to the economy. Italian shipyards operate in highly specialised market niches at high technological level, where the growth of the world fleet has led to a growth in demand both in terms of construction and in terms of conversion and modernisation.
In Genoa, 79 companies operate in the ship repair sector, with around 4,000 employees and over 2,500 workers employed in related industries. As part of the development of the waterfront and the Port of Genoa, a large-scale redevelopment of spaces is planned along with the construction of new facilities where environment, training and infrastructure will play a key role.
Genova Industrie Navali is at the forefront of the project for the new Port of Genoa: a bridge connecting the city, its community and manufacturing activities to the world.
A future based on the continuous search for efficient, sustainable and responsible solutions, to become a global reference point for the shipbuilding industry.
Each individual and each company that acts within the GIN group is the architect of our shared idea of development.
Grow and stand out by providing the best solution, in a timely and efficient way; committing ourselves to offer a complete range of products and services, taking care of our partners in the growth of the territory and of our community.
Environment, work safety, staff care and growth and attention to the customer: these are the pillarso on which our goals are based.
Conception, design, construction. Three aspects that have a single point of reference: the person. Constant training and work quality are the two pillars on which we base our activities. GIN Group's network of professionals and the pursuit of shared goals allow us to achieve excellence.
Each of our employees represents the backbone of the activities, and 100 years of history in our territory mark the particular attention to link between sea and land in Genoa. Our history and our work culture are combined with staff health care and environmental protection.
The quality of work is conquered step by step, ship by ship. Research innovation and training excellence find their space in our shipyards as the hulls mark their route into the sea.
GIN is one of the leading player in the shipbuilding industry, a primary sector of the country-system. To achieve this result, we demand the maximum from ourselves, providing customer total support and definition of projects every day, all year round.
With an average production value of 350 million euros, more than 500 direct employees and nearly 1,200 workers employed in related industries, the Genova Industrie Navali is the largest private Italian player in the shipbuilding sector. The GIN group maintains its headquarters and many of its facilities in Genoa, covering a total area of 67,000 sqm, and has a significant presence in Marseille (90,000 sqm) and in Piombino (103,000 sqm).
Our shipyards have been building and repairing ships since the early 20th century. Since then, many things have changed: there have been many people in all roles, technologies have changed and with them the size of ships, materials and project timescales. One thing has stayed the same and that is the most valuable asset of all: the immeasurable wealth of knowledge handed down over the years that makes Genova Industrie Navali a proficient and experienced partner with expert staff who are used to working in synergy.
