On 19 November, Genova Industrie Navali took part in a conference organised by Confindustria Genova, delivering a focused presentation entitled: “From the first Sustainability Report to the construction of a strategic roadmap”.
The meeting highlighted the growing necessity for businesses to align with European reporting standards, accurately monitor their emissions, and strengthen collaboration throughout the supply chain. The conference also delved into the tools available to support sustainability reporting and the strategic role of supply chain leaders in guiding the sustainable transition of the entire production system.
Representing Genova Industrie Navali S.p.A., Francesca Tortarolo, the Group’s Sustainability Reporting Lead, presented a case study on GIN’s inaugural Sustainability Report. She highlighted the significant opportunities generated, such as deeper integration with stakeholders, the improvement of internal processes, and the creation of value across the supply chain through clearer, shared, and measurable data.
The presentation also addressed the natural challenges faced during the initial phase—particularly the collection and harmonisation of data. While initially perceived as complex tasks, these were transformed into a strategic lever capable of accelerating process evolution thanks to an increasingly structured approach.
Genova Industrie Navali’s contribution aimed to provide practical tools and testimonials, demonstrating how reporting, when managed in an integrated and collaborative manner, can become a driver for competitiveness and innovation throughout the entire supply chain.
This experience confirms that sustainability reporting represents more than just a regulatory obligation; it is a strategic opportunity to enhance corporate performance, improve stakeholder communication, and support the sustainable transition.
